Music Education or Breast Augmentation?

Editor Brian Majeski of the Music Trades Online has written a powerful editorial about the misplaced priorities among leaders in Buffalo, NY.

Here are the bullets from that editorial.

  • The city announced plans to eliminate all music programs in upcoming year: Savings of $2.2 million.
  • Untouched in the budget is $5.4 million a year which gives 3,200 teachers “unlimited access to dermabrasions, breast augmentations, and and other cosmetic procedure, with no co-payment.”

Local plastic surgeons said that 4 out of 10 of their patients are teachers, according to the Buffalo News article, Majeski wrote.

The budget cuts will affect 42,000 students.
